Assessment

Grades will be based on assignments, test and quizzes.
Although the quarter and semester grades are not weighted, by design, test grades will make up about 80% of the report card grade. The semester exam is designed to make up 20% or less of the entire semester grade. The semester exam will not count for more than one third of a letter grade. (i.e. a semester exam could change a B to a B minus or a B plus, no more or no less). Generally, there will be one graded homework assignment due each week. Graded homework will count for about 20% of the final grade.
Grading Scale
93-100% A
85-92% B
77-84% C
70-76% D
0-69% F
Grading criteria may be altered for students in Study Skills Class upon review of the student’s performance in class, his/her performance in other classes and their NEDT or other aptitude test scores (especially the communication, reading and educationablity scores). Altered grading criteria is done individually and only after a meeting with the student and his/her parents.

Deadlines

All assignments are expected to be ready to turn in at the beginning of class. Assignments submitted after the due date, but before the assignments has been returned to the class, will be downgraded 10%. Complete assignments turned in after papers have been returned will receive a 50%. No late work is accepted one week prior to the end of each quarter.

Absences

Quizzes and graded assignments due to an excused absence will be made up at the teacher’s discretion. Tests must be made up within one week of your return. See me the day you return to school from an absence (use the 20 minute break between first and second block to see me).
