The First Quarter
You will begin readin tthe shourt novel, Das myserioese Konzert. There are 12 chapters and you will cover one chapter per class. A readin and listening comprehension test and a separate summary translation take home test will be given after every four chapters.
The Second Quarter
The second quarter will focus on the textbook
The Third Quarter
The focus will largely be on the textbook, however, you will be introduced to some of Germany's classical literature as well as some of German's classical composer, since the literature ond music go hand and hand in Germany. The literature that will be covered includes:
Till Eulenspiegel
Die Schildburger
Max und Mortiz by Wilhelm Busch
The Niebelungenlied and the music by Richard Wagner
Faust by Goethe and Thomas Mann and the music by Mozart (the Ninth Symphony)
Wilhelm Tell by Schiller and the Wilhelm Tell Overture
The Lorelie by heinrich Heine as well as the song by the same name
Fourth Quarter
You will read the sourt novel, Die Spur fuehrt nach Bayern. There are 12 chapters and you will cover one chapter per class. A readin and listening comprehension test and a separate summary translation take home test will be given after every four chapters. At the same time, you will not use the textbook anymore. Instead, the remaining four grammatical lessons will be introduced: relative pronouns, compound and complex sentences, passive voice and subjunctive mood.
